• The “Bread of Life Mini-Series”… For five Sundays, our Gospel is a continuous reading from the sixth chapter of St. John’s Gospel. Often called the “Bread of Life” chapter, we see Jesus presenting himself as the Bread of Life, and hear how people reacted to his message. The first “episode” was on July 28. Today in Episode 4, Jesus promises that “whoever eats this bread will live forever.” Our first and second readings today urge us to be wise rather than foolish. The wise person takes Jesus at his word, that he truly is the Bread of Life. Tune in next week for the dramatic conclusion of the “Bread of Life Mini-Series!”
• Our recent Summer Music Camp… was a wonderful experience for the 33 young people who participated in three days of fun, friendship, and musical learning. The participants shared their musical talents with us at the 11:30 Mass last Sunday, helping us to pray through the gift of music. Thanks to all who participated or helped in any way, especially our parish Music Directors Daniel Kovacic and Jon Runion, who organized the event.
• It’s picnic time!… Don’t forget about our Parish Picnic today, held on the St. Thomas More Campus, rain or shine! Our hope was for the 11:30 Mass to be celebrated outdoors, but it will now be held inside the church. Following Mass, a picnic lunch will be provided, and fun games will be played. Occasions like this are great opportunities to build parish community. Hope to see you there!
• School bells will soon be ringing… for many of our young people! Let’s keep students, families, teachers, and school administrators in our prayer as this new school year begins. May it be a time of growth, and may our schools reflect the values that are important to us.
