St. James reminds us in today’s readings that “Faith, if it does not have works is dead.” As people of faith, this means that we are called to be a people of prayer and contemplation, but also a people of action and service. This weekend, we are sponsoring a Ministry Fair after all the Masses at St. Thomas More on Saturday and Sunday (Sept 14-15). It may surprise some to know that we have over 52 ministries here that cover a wide arrange of areas from liturgy to works of charity. Please feel free to stop in the Family Life Center after Mass to meet representatives from our ministries, and to learn more about how to be involved. Resurrection Parish is truly a vibrant, lively parish, and we need as many people as possible to help sustain our outreach, service, and pastoral planning priorities. We hope to see you at the Ministry Fair this weekend!
Catechetical Sunday: This Sunday we will commission our catechists at the 9:30 a.m. liturgy. Catechists and those who instruct others in the faith are integral to helping others grow in a profound relationship with Christ. Thank you to all those who give of their time so generously to Religious Education, OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), OCIC (Order of Christian Initiation of Children), Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Youth and Young Adult Ministries, and Adult Faith Formation. We are grateful for your dedication and love of Christ and the Church!
An Evening with Mary: Dr. Linda Lee Ritzer, the director of Parish Services for the Diocese of Pittsburgh, will present An Evening with Our Lady, Mary on Wednesday, September 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center at St. Thomas More Church. The evening will examine Mary’s role in the scriptures and in our lives of faith. There is no cost to attend, and it will include a time of prayer and fellowship. Thank you to the Ladies of Charity for sponsoring this event. Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us!
The Way: Resurrection Parish has partnered with the Preambula Group and Dr. Michel Therrien to implement The Way. The Way is a spiritual experience designed to help people grow in relationship with Christ. It is a time for prayer, teaching, lectio divina, faith sharing, and learning how to be a disciple of Jesus. This offering will begin on October 23rd and will continue for eight consecutive weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. We hope that you will consider using this opportunity to deepen your faith life.
